Google Fuchsia OS

Worth it if…Worth it, with caveats.

Promising and scalable operating system, but he doubts it will replace Android in the next five years and sees it as an experiment that will coexist with it.

What I liked

  • Looks like strong multitasking with many windows and tabbed mode
  • Zircon microkernel scales from PCs to tiny devices
  • Could make smart home devices independent of hubs and apps
  • Runs on everything from phones to fridges
  • Built with updates in mind
  • Could give Google control over software experience

What I didn't

  • Still an early experiment
  • Not intended to replace Android
  • Not replacing Android in the next couple of years
  • Needs Android apps to run on it

Fuchsia could fix Android's fragmentation and tie devices together, but he does not expect it to replace Android in the next couple of years.
