A fascinating piece of history with a surprisingly good keyboard and strong software foundations, but the trackball, screen and camera show how far phones have come.

What I liked
- Historic first Android phone
- Tactile, clicky keyboard with no input lag
- Satisfying physical keys
- Pull-down notification bar and Gmail integration
- Widget support from day one
What I didn't
- Dated design with slide-out keyboard
- Not better than the iPhone
- Trackball is fiddly, inaccurate and slow
- Only 46% screen-to-body ratio
- Large screen gap causes glare
- Very basic 3.15MP camera with no front camera
